Kjersti Eliassen is educated as a painter at the National Academy of Fine Arts in Oslo. She used to paint with oil on canvas, but the last 15 years she has been working with
watercolours. Her motives are simplified landscapes, where it is the poetry and the mood rather than the imitation of nature that stand out. Houses, human figures, animals and birds are often
populating her landscapes. She is seeking the tecnical challenge in the contrast between the floating and the distinct, as well as the tension between the nature and the figures.
Kjersti Eliassen has received a lot of grants, and has exhibited regularly.
