Dr.art Anne Helgesen (b. 1955) – scholar and artist. University teacher in theatre studies at the University of Oslo. Disputed for her doctor thesis on the history of Norwegian puppetry in 2003. She has also carried out research on the influence of popular puppetry on the work of Ibsen and on how modern puppet theatres stage Ibsen’s dramas. (Ibsen og figurteatret - figurteatret og Ibsen 2006)and a biography of the Norwegian cabaret artist Bokken Lasson.
Anne Helgesen is also a playwright and artistic director of the puppet theatre company The Cat’s. She often present her research as performances: Forebedrag present and discuss the element of animism in puppetry, while My big brother Henrik present Henrik Ibsens sister Hedvig as an unreliable scientific source for the childhood of the famous writer. Other well known shows from the theatre company the Cat’s are Grey men playing Hamlet, The shadows of Chat Noir and The voices of Katharina.
