Gudjon Ketilsson (b. 1956) has been active on the Icelandic art scene since the seventies. He studied art at the Icelandic college of Art and Crafts 1974-1978 and graduated from Nova Scotia College of Art and Design in Canada in 1980. He has held around thirty solo shows and participated in many group shows, both here in Iceland and abroad. His works have been shown in Europe, North-America and Australia. Gudjon´s works are owned by all the main museums in Iceland, as well as museums abroad. Not only has Gudjon been invited to participate in international workshops but he has also been included in closed competitions for Art in public space, some of those works can be seen in Reykjavik and Seydisfjordur.
Gudjon has recieved grants from the Governmental funding for the Arts, exhibition- and publication grants from the Ministry of Culture and travel- and residential grants from Muggur. He has also received several prizes and awards, for example the Cultural prize of Dagbladid Visir in the year 2000 and a prize from the Museum of Einar Jonsson on the 75th anniversary of the museum. Gudjon lives and works in Reykjavik.
