KRISTIN AUSTREID
Kristin Austreid (b.1985, Haugesund) currently lives and works in Bergen, a graduate from MA Fine Art at the Bergen Academy of Visual Art in 2014.
Austreid´s paintings have a fragmented expression, close to photorealistic collages, shifting between canvases mounted on the wall to objects on the floor. By studying different surfaces and textures Austreid´s work composes and reconfigures these on the canvas, from simple compositions to more complex structures. Building on the basic themes taken from both the historical and modernistic traditions, she is focusing on the duality between the painting as an object and a mimetic practice.
