Kristín Svava Tómasdóttir (b. 1985) is a poet from Reykjavík, Iceland. She has been active on the Icelandic poetry scene for the last fifteen years and has published three books of poetry: Blótgælur („Tender Swear Words“, 2007), skrælingjasýningin („The Savages Exhibition“, 2011), and Stormviðvörun (Stormwarning, 2015). The American-Scandinavian Foundation awarded K.T. Billey´s English translation of Stormwarning the Leif and Inger Sjöberg Award in 2017, and the book is due to be published in the United States.
Kristín Svava´s poems have been translated into English, Danish, German, Finnish, Polish, Portuguese, Italian, Spanish and Arabic, and published in various magazines and anthologies. She is herself a translator of Spanish, English and Portuguese works into Icelandic. Her translation of Valerie Solanas´s feminist manifesto SCUM was published by Nýhil in 2009, and in 2016 her translation of Cuban author Virgilio Piñera´s poem La isla en peso came out with Icelandic publisher Partus Press.
Kristín Svava is also one of the editors of the poetry series Meðgönguljóð, published by Partus Press. Kristín Svava holds an MA degree in history from the University of Iceland and works as a freelance writer and historian in Reykjavík. Her book on the history of pornography in Iceland is due to be published in 2018.
