MAJ-BRITT ANDERSSON

Maj-Britt Andersson, born 1955 in Hälsingtuna, is an art historian, researcher, lecturer and a writer, specialised in Italian renaissance and roman baroque as well as vernacular art and architecture in Scandinavia.

Apart from her academic research she had her literary debut in 1998 with Husbibeln, a book of essays about the decorated farmsteads so-called hälsingegårdar in Hälsingland in the north of Sweden listed as a world heritage by Unesco in 2012.

Since the 1980s she is also conducting research and writing in Rome and central Italy. Recent books are Caravaggio – motreformationens vapendragare (Caravaggio- armourbearer for the Counter-reformation) 2018 and as an editor for the anthology New Caravaggio published in Italy 2016.

Maj-Britt Andersson is collaborating in scientific journals, daily newspapers, magazines, and books. She is a member of Writer ́s Guild in Sweden. Affiliated to the Newman Institute in Uppsala she is currently working with a book about the painting Cupid Victorious by Caravaggio.
