MARIE STOCKMARR BECKER

Marie is a freelance musician based in Malmö, Sweden. She plays on both historical and modern viola, performing regularly with several ensembles throughout Scandinavia including Concerto Copenhagen, Camerata Øresund, Copenhagen Phil, Nordic Affect.

She is co-principal violist in Basel Sinfonietta – orchestra specializing in contemporary music. In this context she has toured Switzerland, Germany (Darmstadt Ferienkurse für neue Musik), Japan and Austria. Past projects collaborated with musicians such as Peter Eötvös and Laurie Anderson.

Marie studied in Conservatoire National de Région de Rueil-Malmaison (FR) and at the Music Academy of Basel (CH). Here she partly carried out her studies at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis and she completed a Master of Arts in 2011. 

As a chamber musician she has performed in festivals and concert halls throughout Europe, in China and the USA.

Her project in Circolo Scandinavo takes place in cooperation with the Italian harpsichordist Ilaria Macedonio. They will work on J.S. Bach's sonatas BWV 1027-1029 as a preparation for a recording of the pieces and a following concert tour.
