Markku Pääskynen (b. 1973) is a novelist and MA from University of Helsinki. He has written eight novels, short stories, and essays. He has also translated Odysseus Elytis, and Nikos Gatsos, among others, from modern Greek into Finnish.
He has been nominated for Finlandia Prize in 2006 with a novel The Day of Wrath and in 2015 with a novel Souls. In 2006 and 2007 he won Kalevi Jäntti's Prize with a novel The Day of Wrath. He also received Savonia Prize with a novel This World's Most Important Things in 2005.
